A Little knitting

I thought I'd show ya a cutesy little hat that I knit for my little one. It was originally a basic watch cap hat with a basic 4x4 ribbing. Then I learned that W likes to take stuff off of his head. So instead of being a basic little watchcap hat, I put ears on it. I found it quite difficult to start out because I didn't know how many stitches to cast on in the beginning but I think it came out pretty cute. You be the judge. He loves it and has now learned that when his little hat goes on that means that it's time to go "bye bye".
Weekend was pretty quiet. I got a new computer though. My mother sent me some money for christmas and told me to buy myself soemthing I wanted. Well my laptop has been dying lately sooooo..... I bought myself a semi inexpensive desktop. Not bad it's got an intel dual-core only came with 1 GB of RAM but thats easily upgradable. I already upgraded the graphics card to a ATI Radeon so that I can enjoy a little online gaming. I think I love this computer now!

Granny Squares

Well, I'm sad to say that my granny square afhgan isn't going as fast as I was hoping. I've only got about 8 so far and I need 20. I'm having trouble crochet lately. My hand starts hurting after only one square! I know it's because of the way I'm holding the yarn with my left hand. I kind of curl my pointer finger up to hold it and it gets cramped quickly! I'll figure it out eventually. I can knit so much better than I can crochet, which is funny because I've been crocheting a lot longer than I've been knitting.

New Camera!

Okay I buckled down today and bought a cheap well $60 cheap digi. I couldn't go through my baby's first Halloween (a big deal in our family) without getting a photo of his costume. So little D is going to be Boba Fett one of the Bounty hunters from Star Wars. W is going to be a furry little monkey. I have even knitted him a little banana to sew to one of the mittens on the costume. SOOO cute. I can't wait to get pics of him with it on. It doesn't take the best pictures but it will work or at least I will make due until the Camera gods give me back my camera!

Tomorrow's the big day!!

Well.. Tomorrow's the BIG day! The big birthday extravaganza! so far we have a total of 7 children that have rsvp'd 3 boys and 4 girls which will be pretty even when you include little D. He's so excited I'll be shocked if he gets any sleep tonight. Tomorrow's going to be a busy day I just hope that W will be able to handle the disruption from his daily schedule. Not that he's on an insanely strict schedule but I do try to at least keep his eating scheduled. Just a lot going on and of course everyone else has to work so it's just pretty much going to be my and big D left with 8 scratch that 9 kids running around for 2 hours! Something tells me that those 2 hours are going to go EXTREMELY slow lol. We will see..............

I've lost my Digi!!!!!

I can't believe this but I actually lost something! It doesn't happen very often at all. I'm the type of mom and SO that my son or my boyfriend will come up to me and ask me if I have seen something of theirs and 9 x's out of 10 I will tell them exactly where it is. I do it all the time, I just know. I keep track of everything! Well I have officially labeled my digital camera as missing because I've looked for it for a week now and torn apart just about every corner and nook and cranny imaginable and it's just not here. I know it's in my house somewhere it has to be! The only pics I ever take are here unless we go somewhere to visit a relative but I usually leave it in my purse till it's time for a pic then it goes right back in. It's gone! My son's 10th birthday party is this weekend and I have nothing to photograph him with :( I'm deeply upset by this.

On a crafty note I'm a little behind on my afghan squares. I've got 6 done and I'm half way through my 7th. I believe I'm supposed to have 10 done by tomorrow but I've been pretty busy getting ready for this party. It's his first actually big birthday party because he's never invited classmates to a party before. Usually it's just a few rather close friends and family and thats it. Well not this year, this year he invited all 15 classmates and 8 of them are coming. A pretty good turnout if you ask me. Dinners ready so time for me to get off the computer and feed the family. Until next time..........

Day 2 of crocheting granny squares!

Day 2 seems to be going pretty well, I'm trying to make 2 squares a day. I figure if I keep this up I will be done with the large squares in two weeks time and then I can get started on the 80! small squares. The small squares are not going to be hard at all. They only consist of doing a basic granny square for 2 rows thats it! They are done in only one color, white, and they are very easy. I made one today and it took all of 3 minutes. So with that in mind maybe I can set a simple goal and go for making 4-6 a day of those once I'm done with the large squares. So far I've kept up to my end of the bargain I'm almost done with square 4 and since I'm a HUGE wrestling fan and Raw is on tonight, I will probably get another one done tonight we will see!
With life right now I'm busy planning for D's big 10th birthday extravaganza this weekend. The only reason I'm calling it an extravaganza is because D has decided that this year he was going to invite all of his classmates, All 16 of them! I'm hoping that not all of them show up as it is going to be just Big D and I with all those kids! Craziness is sure to happen!! I'll be sure to post some pictures as soon as I find my camera that is. It seems to have decided to go for a walk somewhere in this house where I can't see it. D thinks, having just watch Spiderwick Chronicles that it's a Brownie that took it. hmmm we will see!

Start of my new Blog!

I've seen many of these up on ravelry so I decided since I have a decent amount of spare time I would start one myself! This blog is going to be about my knitting and crocheting projects, about my family, (I have 2 sons D is going to be 10 on Wednesday the 8th of October and W is 7 months old.) and my life. So lets get started!
I borrowed a crochet book from the library last week called; The Crochet Answer Book byEdie Eckman. I learned through that book that I've been crocheting wrong since I was bout 8 (I'm 26 now) Somehow I've been doing it backwards this whole time! Well I figured now that I actually know what I'm doing I mine as well jump right in whip up some granny squares and make myself a blanket for my bed. I'm using a pattern called Blue Skies from the magazine Afghans the pattern was in the may 2006 addition. It's a pretty simple pattern but since I've never followed a single crochet pattern before I'm pretty proud of myself! I've done 2 squares so far and I'm working on my 3rd. I will need 20 large squares total and 80 small squares, the 80 small ones consist of only 2 rows so I don't think those are going to take quite as long as I think they are. We will see I'm hoping to finish this afghan by Christmas. It would be a nice little christmas present for myself and my BF.
